The French Civil Aviation Authority (DGAC) has approved SIMAERO programs for the qualification of Type Rating (TRE) & Synthetic Flight (SFE) Examiners including initial training program, extension, revalidation and renewal. Under EASA regulation, civil aviation authorities manage the approved examinators lists for each aircraft type, applying strict validation requirements.
“We are very honored to be approved by the DGAC / EASA to conduct these courses”, says Patrice Galinier, Head of Training of SIMAERO. “This approval confirms the confidence that the civil aviation authority has in our organization. We all at SIMAERO will do our best to exceed the expectations of the DGAC as well as that of our future trainees”.
The courses for examiners include EASA regulations and French specific requirements. The initial training course consists of 1 day of classroom lesson and 2 sessions in a full flight simulator. The subjects cover theoretical knowledge of EASA regulation, examiners behaviors, responsibility overview and administrative procedures. During the practical part in the full flight simulator, under the supervision of an expert examiner, the trainee examiner learns and practices various situations with a pilot crew. Scenarios include role play from strong experienced crew of complicated situations with one or both pilots doing mistakes in flight operations, in tasks sharing as well as critical errors. The trainee is trained to perform skill test specific briefings & debriefings.
After this training, the future examiner is ready for his assessment in the full flight simulator. “The strong advantage of SIMAERO is the possibility to propose the real Operational Proficiency Checks for such assessments”, indicates Patrice Galinier.
The course is not attached to the aircraft types, it allows the trainees to be qualified as examiner on any civil aviation aircraft type. However, SIMAERO program includes 2 reference types of aircraft – Airbus 320 and Boeing 737 NG, with special aircraft systems briefing for examiners with different qualifications included. This allows for trainings to be organized in a fast and efficient manner using SIMAERO full flight simulators in Paris Charles de Gaulle training center.
In the near future SIMAERO will get approval for examiners programs from other EASA civil aviation administrations as well as non EASA ones, in order to satisfy the needs of local markets to keep qualification of examiners at the highest standards.
